B2 Marine Chronometer to celebrate the America's Cup
Bremont launches new Marine Chronometer in celebration of its involvement as Official Timing Partner to the America's Cup.
Bremont is pleased to announce that it will be launching a new Marine Chronometer in celebration of its involvement as Official Timing Partner to the America’s Cup. Based on the original B1 Marine Chronometer design which was launched in 2010 as a tribute to the great John Harrison, the B2 has been specially skeletonised to display more of the wonderful mechanism within the clock.
The B2 is totally made in England with some unique features not normally found in marine clocks including; three time zones, 30 day power reserve, date, 90 day chronograph and all sealed in a water resistant case.
Built to either be attached to the bulkhead of a ship or in its standalone case the B2 has been beautifully hand crafted and finished to an impeccable standard. The twin fusee movement has been gold plated to protect against salt fog damage, and to enable a 30 day power reserve the B2 uses low friction pivoting systems a la Harrison. It features ball- race and jewels for the going train and is finished with a classic English escapement.
Giles English, Bremont Co-Founder: “With our involvement in the America’s Cup it seemed most fitting that we should create a version of the B1 Marine Clock. The B2 shows more of the beautiful movement and is really a very special clock to own, not least because it is such a wonderful demonstration and celebration of fine British craftsmanship. With the time and cost of production these are made in very limited numbers and Bremont will be making just 10 B2 America’s Cup Marine Chronometers.“
The clock will run for one month per winding. The dial indicates:
- Time of day (local) hours minutes seconds
- Time of day (home)
- Greenwich Mean Time
- State of wind (power reserve)
- Trip or voyage time (days & hours
